Isle of Wight folk song clubs, folk music sessions, Irish music, storytellers etc

Playalong – tunes are led by one musician and the rest join in. Singaround – usually one song/tune/poem each round the room. Performance – more formal, with a ‘stage’ area.

NOTE: This information is as accurate as I can make it, however occasionally cancellations or changes happen. Most music and song sessions and clubs are free.

Every Wednesday John Hacker ‘s Folk Show on Vectis Radio. 7 til 9pm. 104.6 or Includes early blues and roots, invited guests and some live music. John invites local bands to send him CDs he can feature. On Vectis Radio iplayer after a few days if you miss live broadcast.

Every Wednesday Sounds Lively choir singing folk, gospel and songs from around the world. 12.30, Unitarian Church, High Street,  Newport,  PO30 1SS. £5 per session.

Third Friday – Trinity Folk Night in the hall of Holy Trinity Church, Ventnor. 7.30. There is a bar. Performance. NO MEETING OCTOBER 2019.

Fridays – Shanty singing group is being set up in Ventnor. Venue TBA.


First Sunday -Ventnor Guitar Club open mic. night at the Winter Gardens, Ventnor, 8pm. Not only folk.
